JAMAICAN TOASTER, innovator, and dancehall pioneer the Mighty Dillinger is back with the acclaimed Steppin' Out of Babylon. Marking a monumental 50 years in the music industry, this high-energy career overview is the ultimate party playlist, packing five decades of quick wit, irreverent delivery, and infectious riddims into one essential collection.
FIVE DECADES OF A DANCEHALL GREAT
Emerging in the mid-1970s as a vital force in reggae's second-wave deejay scene, Dillinger (born Lester Randal Bullock) forever changed the genre. He bridged the gap between the roots movement and the birth of dancehall with his signature, sharp conversational raps and eccentric, offbeat lyricism-boastful, idiosyncratic, and famous for the occasional surprise yodeling.
From the global, crossover success of his 1976 masterpiece smash hit "Cocaine in My Brain," Dillinger has consistently pushed boundaries and captivated international audiences.
Bathed in the sounds of true Jamaican royalty, Steppin' Out of Babylon is a non-stop celebration of favourite hits and dancehall delights. This is one party you won't want to stop.
"Dillinger is one of reggae's most innovative artists. Alongside contemporaries like U-Roy, his pioneering toasting style cemented his status as an all-time great."
