Bugle - Apex NEW Vinyl

Jamaican reggae luminary Roy 'Bugle' Thompson is set to release his highly anticipated fifth studio album, "Apex" this August. Bugle's new album promises to be a significant addition to his illustrious career and serves as the follow-up to his critically acclaimed 16-track set, "Toxicity," released in October 2021. Known for his evocative lyricism and soul-stirring melodies; this project is a bold statement of artistry, combining deep lyrical content and impressive collaborations. "Apex" encompasses a rich tapestry of themes, delving into love, life, faith, perseverance, and social issues. With a myriad of topics, the album reflects Bugle's deep commitment to creating music that resonates on multiple levels. Each track is a testament to his versatility and dedication to producing songs that not only entertain but also educate and inspire. With "Apex", Bugle reaffirms his position as a leading voice in contemporary reggae, delivering a project that is both reflective and forward-looking.

The title "Apex" suggests that Bugle has reached a new height in his career, making this album a declaration of his artistic and spiritual journey. It stands out not just for Bugle's lyrical prowess, but also for the impressive roster of collaborators and producers who contribute to the album's rich soundscape. The album features a stellar lineup of collaborators, contributing to it's diverse and dynamic sound. Their influence is palpable throughout the album, adding depth and breadth to Bugle's already impressive body of work. The album features notable artists such as Buju Banton, Damian Marley, Capleton, Maxi Priest, Barrington Levy, and Tifa, each bringing their unique energy and style to the project. The opening track, "Apex Intro," featuring Ras Shadai, is a fitting start.

The composition, songwriting and production is solely handled by Bugle himself, setting the stage for what's to come. The track establishes the album's deeply personal and cohesive sound. One of the album's standout tracks is "Thank You Lord," a collaboration with reggae giants Buju Banton and Damian Marley. This track, composed by Jemoi Monteith and Owen Bassy Reynolds, is a powerful anthem of gratitude and faith. The songwriters, including Roy 'Bugle' Thompson, Mark Myrie (Buju Banton), and Damian Marley, craft lyrics that are both poignant and uplifting. The production, handled by Bugle, DJ Bambino, and J. Twiss, blends traditional reggae elements with a modern twist, creating a sound that is both classic and contemporary.

Another highlight is "Hopes (Small World)," featuring Capleton. This track is a fiery declaration of resilience that speaks against social injustices; with Capleton's signature energy perfectly complementing Bugle's thoughtful delivery. Bugle again composed and produced this track, but this time collaborated with Clifton Bailey and Sherita Lewis on songwriting duties, resulting in a powerful call to action that resonates deeply with listeners. At it's core, "Apex" is a deeply spiritual album. Throughout the album, each track offers a unique perspective on the human experience. Tracks like "Patience, God & Time," reflect Bugle's unwavering faith and belief in divine timing. The track's production, led by Lockecity Music, complements the song's meditative lyrics, creating a calming and reflective atmosphere. "Heads Up," is a motivational anthem encouraging listeners to stay strong in the face of adversity. "Upside Down," tackles the theme of life's unpredictability; one of the album's most impactful tracks. While "Inside Warm," featuring Tifa, explores the themes of love and intimacy. The album closes with a series of powerful tracks that leave a lasting impact. "Jah-Meck-Yah," featuring Military Man, is a patriotic anthem that celebrates Jamaica's rich cultural heritage; and, "Brutal Murderer," featuring the legendary Barrington Levy, is a hard-hitting track that addresses the harsh realities of violence and injustice.
